Could you provide the exact OS information and complete product/model number of your laptop. You can get this information by pressing Fn+Esc key on your compuer if you havent changed OS which came with the notebook.

I have a Pavilion G6 also, and also having problems with the SD card reader (Realtek PCIE card reader).
It appears that some SD cards are readable by this G6 card reader, and some SD cards are not readable by this G6 card reader.
The problem SD cards appears to be with Toshiba contollers (so far, only ran into problem with 4GB SDHC card). The SD card is working, when it's not readble by the G6 card reader, I can put it in a USB card reader, and it will work ok on the same G6 machine.
Is there a compatibility issue with the Realtek card reader and SD cards with Toshiba controller?

Downloading this driver should sort out the problem!

I know this is a bit of an old thread now , I was having the same problem. Looks like the card reader was disabled in device manager.
So, right click 'computer' on the start menu, then manage, click 'device manager'. Find 'realtek pcie cardreader' (under memory technology driver' and click 'enable'. Windows should find the device and you'll get a new drive letter appear.
Hope this helps

update driver via device manager. Also check latest updates via Windows update(if your notebook is new).
For sure not the fastest and not so stable card reader..up to 2gb works fine(SD card is ok). But it works.I preffered USB ports anyway. :catwink:
