Reverse polarity will usually fry the motherboard. What model is it? If you are lucky it only damaged the power jack and it is modular. Can't help more without model number.

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

This is the part you want to try to replace:

(14) USB/power connector boards (include USB/power connector board cable)
For use only with computer models using 90-W AC adapters 446524-001
For use only with computer models using 65-W AC adapters 449454-001

If you replace that part and you still have the problem, it is the motherboard that has gone bad.

Here is the 90w part on eBay and has a good picture of it. There is a pigtail and plug to the motherboard for usb and the power jack which means no need to solder.

Obviously the shipping on this item is outrageous. You can likely get the part cheaper from HP itself.

Thanks for help

I tried using laptop with freinds battery and seems workign perfect, except the charging issue. Hope this will resolve all charging issues.

Thanks again

I installed new charging module and new charger on my HP dv6700. Still the same issue, blue light on but no charging. Is there any other part needs replacement or the module bought from Ebay is dead?

Any help will be greatly appricated.
