Hi there,
My audio doesn't seem to be working, though it does appear on my sounds menu. I've tried update drivers as well as roll back. It was working a few days ago until a driver update recently.
Help would be much appreciated!

Hey there,
I fixed this myself yesterday evening but could not log into the forums for some reason to update my thread. I basically turned off Windows update from automatic installation to scan for updates (then ask me to install), then rolled back drivers, as when I tried to roll back before as soon as I'd roll back / use system restore the Windows Update would kick in right after and put back the newer driver.
Thanks for the assistance though, I searched through some other threads made by people with similar issues which were very helpful as well.

Hi,
Can you post back with the following.
1. The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.
2. The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

I am having the same problem as the user above and my computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 product number: A6Y01UA#ABA and I am running windows 7 that came pre-installed on the PC. I have done all the trouble shooting on the computer and nothing seems to work. When I try to do a test, it just says an error has occured. No error number just an "ok" button to click.

Get your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key or check the Service Tag attached to bottom, may be under battery.
Go to the link below.Enter your Product Number .After entering PN, click Next ,then choose Software & Drivers. On the next page use the dropdown to select your OS (probably Windows 7 64bit). A list will populate with drivers. Download & Save the latest Audio driver.

Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features-uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.

@movait89,
Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services. Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
Audio Service
Multimedia Class Scheduler
Windows Audio
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type', select Automatic and click Apply to save the change. Then click the Start button.
