Product:
HP Pavilion dv6928us
Hardware Specifications:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01485372
OS & Network Information:
- Wireless Router: ASUS RT-N56U on the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.360
- OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit SP1
- Windows Firewall is turned off
Network Card:
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
Updated the drivers to the latest version: 13.4.0.139
- 802.11n Channel Width for band 2.5 20 MHz Only
- 802.11n Mode Enabled
- Ad Hoc Channel 802.11b/g 11
- Ad Hoc QoS Mode WMM Disabled
- Fat Channel Intolerant Disabled
- Mixed Mode Protection CTS-to-self Enabled
- Romaing Aggressiveness 3. Medium
- Transmit Power 5. Highest
- Wireless Mode 6. 802.11a/b/g
Steps trying to resolve this issue:
- The "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option is also turned off.
- I have the power options set to High Performance.
- I have inSSIDer installed and I'm the only network broadcasting on the 5GHz bandwitdth (so there is absolutely no interference whatsoever)
- I have switched between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz and the same thing occurs. See below
Issue:
My laptop sits <50 meters from my wireless router (no walls in between) and I'm connected on the 5GHz bandwidth. I keep getting random disconnects throughout the day getting a red X on the network icon in my taskbar. The only way to "temporary" fix this is to completely restart my computer.
On the other hand, my mother's laptop is in the other room, also connected to the 5GHz, has experienced ZERO issues at all.
What could be the problem??

If anyone is else is experiencing this problem, the only two (solutions) are
- "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option ticked off
OR (if that doesn't work)
- 802.11n Mode Disable
802.11n mode for Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN for Windows 7 and 8 OS is buggy. Which causes intermittent wireless disconnect.

Hi:
Enable WMM which should be the default setting, and change the roaming aggressiveness to lowest.
The roaming aggressiveness sometimes causes the adapter to seek a better wireless signal, and you really don't want that unless you are not at home and are trying to connect to any open network.
Here is a link to all the available settings and defaults.
Your card may not have all of the settings but it should have most of them.

So, when you download driver version
15.8.0 | 5/23/2013 |
you end up with version 13.4.0.139?

If so, other than changing the broadcast channel on your router to 11 or 1, I can't think of anything else you can do.
