SOLUTION!! How I got the webcam working on a DV9000 running Win7 Pro x64


I first tried 3 different HP (SPXXXXX) driver files that were recommended on the forum. None worked.


Uninstalled all of them.


Step 1)

Went to the main support page for this laptop and downloaded the Vista Webcam driver for this laptop.

Here: -> http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34501-35000/sp34746.exe


Once installed I checked Device Manager and it no longer showed Unknown Device but instead now showed as a working webcam. However, every attempt to use it failed.


Step 2)

Went to Windows Update and it now showed a NEW - never before offered - HP Pavillion Webcam driver!!!

Installed it and now it works!!!!!
