Hi there,

I've just reinstalled windows 7 on my HP laptop and need to install drivers - was planning to do this by saving on another computer to a usb stick. I'm trying to get the network going first so I can use the HP driver navigator to do the rest automatically. BUT ... from the HP driver downloads section all attempts to download drivers redirect me to downloading the driver navigator which I obviously can't use because I have no network adapter driver!

For example,

http://www.hp-drivers-download.com/download/hp/sp53753.exe.html

No matter on which link it just downloads the driver navigator.

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.

The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment or on the startup BIOS screen. Please see How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? for more assistance locating this information. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and post it here for our review.

http://www.hp-drivers-download.com/download/hp/sp53753.exe.html is NOT a valid HP associated web page. Please locate the drivers for your model on it's HP Support page >>> begining with http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us

Please post the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" (just the string of text, please) for all missing or unknown devices, as shown in the example below;

Thanks, hi, my model number is g6 1c39ca, product number A3J85UA#ABC.

I needed a new hard drive & installed windows 7 (64 bit), then found the "Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter" to get my network adapter working by doing a search using the pci\ven numbers like the ones you've shown in the screen shot.  I was hoping once  I got that going I could get the rest of the drivers installed automatically from HP.  No luck yet. Thank you for pointing out that I was looking at an unauthorized HP driver site before.

I currently have a yellow exclamation point beside:

"Ethernet Controller"

That's it.  My usb ports are working.  I have noticed that my HDMI port is not working; could it be covered by one of the above?  Haven't done a thorough check yet for what else might not be working.

Thanks!
