My HD just crashed and am trying to find a new (better) compatible HD to fit in my computer. Any suggestions or what specs I need to look for so it is compatible?

Hi:
If you want good performance from a new hard drive, get a SATA II 7,200 RPM hard drive of 500 GB or less.
The higher RPM's give quicker seek times but it will be at the expense of battery life between charges.
This would be my first choice of a replacement.

If you don't need that big of a drive and want to save a little $$$, then you can get the 320 GB version of the above model.
