HP ProBook 440 G8 Notebook - can I charge it using usb-c?

Any limitations or things that can damage my notebook when charging?

From the user manual for your laptop that is a yes, you can charge the battery.

Use the USB type-C port on the rh side of your laptop with DisplayPort symbol.

If you use an HP Power adapter, such as the two  compatible units that I provided information on below there will be no problem at all.

"USB Type-C® power connector port,
SuperSpeed 5 Gbps port, and DisplayPort™
output (select products only)

Connects an AC adapter that has a USB Type-C connector,
supplying power to the computer and, if needed, charging the
computer battery.
"

The Maintenance & Service guide lists two compatible power adapters that have USB Type-C connectors. (Chapter 3, pg 23)
