I need help with my fingerprint reader. At times when I log in the finger print reader does not work, and the password won't function either. I cannot shut down or reboot my computer. I have to remove the battery and then it seems to work.

Can anyone help me?   PLEASE 🙂

I have problem using my fingerprint reader of HP proboook 450 g1. when I open my biometric dialog it says that "no fingerprint reader is connected or another program is using the reader. I already have installed HP simple pass , validity fingerprint sensor.but when I open it it shows no fingerprint reader is connected or another program is using the reader.

Try this - worked for me!

Open Device Manager

Click on Biometric Devices

Should get drop down Validity Sensor

If it has a Yellow Alert Triangle, right click and Delete.

Immediately RESTART pc, DO NOT click the "search for updated drivers"

On PC Restarting, my fingerprint scanner now fully working properly.

Worked for me, hope it does for you too, easy fix.

I quite recently encountered the same problem. What ultimately resolved my issue was accessing the device manager and deleting the biometric device section. Afterwards I prompted my computer to scan for devices or hardware, it redetected the fingerprint scanner and now it works fine.* By the way I am using an HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC

Hi, I have an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC with a fingerprint scanner.  It has been working fine since I first purchased the pc and I had no problems after I upgraded to windows 8.  Now since yesterday, it won't scan and it doesn't light up.  I deleted which finger I used to see if starting over would work, but sadly it won't.  Keeps giving me an error.  I did renew my antivirus, so I'm really hoping it's not that.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!  :cathappy:
