Riddle: I received your PM what resolution are you talking about? You are asking for more information on my system.. you are the third person from HP to ask.. the last two have done nothing including the supposed specialist who was supposed to PM me who only asked for the info and never wrote back.. that was about a week ago.. forgive me but I'm getting very tired of looking up this info for nothing.. the link you provided had to do with games and Windows 7/Vista.. I don't have either and I don't play games.. but if your talking about the video driver, yes I have already tried that with no luck.. I'm really curious as to why the high up department never cared to reply back to me.. no offense because it's not your fault at all and I know and appreciate your trying to help but it's really frustrating when nobody nowadays follows through with what they are supposed to.. it's even worse when these big companies do the same.. I would expect HP to actually put some interest in a problem like this plaguing their $1,500 computers...

I am having the same issues with my laptop. I ran the long diagnostic as suggested and everything came back fine. For me, the freezing seems to happen randomly, but I noticed it the most when using Excel or R. Other times it doesn't happen at all. I upgraded to the latest BIOS right after I purchased the laptop, so I don't know if that is the cause. Has anyone tried rolling back to the previous BIOS?

On my 1st laptop, I upgraded the bios right away. I began having the freezing right away. I returned and got a new Spectre and DID NOT update the bios. I have not had the machine freeze even once.

Hi everyone,

Seeing those messages in this topic doesn't suprise me. I brought a HP x360 15" bl002nf in Febuary and since I've been using it from the first days, I have incredible freezes when I am on my browser (firefox or chrome) or doing photoshop. I have tried many solutions (updating drivers, windows, updating browsers, re installing browsers, trying solutions on forums, etc) and it still doesn't go away. The only way for me to stop the freezing each time is to do CTRL+ALT+SUP then go back to doing whatever I was doing.

HP seems to have no solution to this and this is getting really tiring. I would've expected more from a tech company such as HP, especially for a $2000 dollar product which we expect high end results with no bugs.

I am seriously thinking about talking about this case to some journalists in tech news websites & blogs which I know.

Good luck to all other users

Same issue for me. I did update to the latest bios. I also did an update to the creators update but problem persisted. Although it is random, I see it happening while on battery power. Like others, I've tried troubleshooting with a variety of things including Microsoft sysinternal tools and still couldn't identify the issue. Nothing in event viewer as well.

I was actually able to fix mine by removing Mcafee and the Lange majority of the HP bloat ware.. once all was removed the system ran way nicer and battery life doubled or better and problem went away.

I actually refreshed it with a fresh copy of Windows 10 without any of the software that HP ships the laptop with. The laptop runs fine except for this issue where it freezes up for a few seconds at random times. Based on my observation, it only happens while on battery power.

Hi! @shakthi16, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand your PC freezes sometimes when it is running only on battery.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?

Try updating BIOS on your PC using this link and let me know the results.

Also, update the chipset drivers on your PC using this link.

So, go to the Power Options in the control panel, and select "Change plan settings" for the active power plan you're on. From there, make sure to select the "Change advanced power settings" option. You should see a large list of items that have on battery and plugged in settings - make sure the on battery matches plugged in for all of them, and save the plan.

If no lock ups are seen  then slowly enable options until the lock up is seen again, which will isolate exactly what device or setting could be causing issues

.

CONTROL PANEL

-THE DEVICE MANAGER

-THEN GO TO BATTERY

-THEN DISABLE Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

after you do this you will see that the battery notification thing on the bottom right of the screen goes away... but it will still run and still charge your battery if you plug in your charger.

Also, refer this article to further troubleshoot freezing issues with PC.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂
