My laptop has 256 GB of storage but I've been right against the limit for some time now so I was looking at upgrading my hard drive or finding an SD Card to improve storage space since I it has a MircoSD Card reader. Regarding the SD Card option I had a few questions:

1. What is the highest capacity MicroSD my laptop is compatible with?

2. Would the MicroSD Card protrude out of the laptop when inserted, if so is there a card that is compatible that does not protrude so it could be permanently inserted?

3. If it's not a viable option what is the best way of going about upgrading my Hard Drive Space?

@Rapideagle,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

According to the Product specifications it shows that your PC has been shipped with 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD Hard drive and 1 microSD media card reader.

Let's answer your questions one by one:

1. What is the highest capacity MicroSD my laptop is compatible with? Up to 256 GB storage capacity. However, HP does not provide the maximum size of the SD card accepted. I would suggest you could try up to 64 GB which should be compatible on you laptop.

3. If it's not a viable option what is the best way of going about upgrading my Hard Drive Space? Yes, you can try to upgrade the SSD to 512 GB

Please go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your notebook, Here you will find the part description and the spare part numbers which are tested and compatible on your notebook.

Chapter 1. Part Description - Page number 1

Chapter 3. Illustrated Parts catalog - Page number - 22.

Please note, these are the parts which are tested on your PC, If you wish to try other parts you can try it at your own discretion, HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance.

Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Partsurfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here).

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
