HP Spectre x360 Laptop - 15-eb00043dx

Screen Issues:
-Colors are no longer true.  Appears more muted and darker.
-Vertical Lines present.  Begin whiter upon reboot, fade, but still present the longer the computer is on.
-Thin edge around desktop space, brighter.  Top edge of this border sometimes flickers with typing and touchpad movement.  When an open window is moved, a pale reflection of the window can be seen moving with it along the top edge of the border.

Touchpad or Touchscreen Issues:

-Curser will sporadically disappear and reappear.  Usually towards bottom of screen.  Sometimes an item will be ghost selected.  This can happen when the touchpad is in use or not in use.

Attempted Fixes:
1. BIOS restart with nothing done but saving and exiting.  Vertical lines still visible.

2. Windows Recovery to a time about 2 weeks prior to the issues and pre-dating 2 most recent updates.

3. Windows update re-run

4. Display Device Drivers (Intel & NVIDIA) both uninstalled and reinstalled

Nothing has corrected any issues.  I suspect a hardware issue based on the BIOS restart results.  On 3/15/22 computer was fine in the morning, was untouched throughout the day and in the evening these issues began.

Any advice on next steps would be appreciated!

Hi@Zeitgeist1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing lines on screen issues with the HP Spectre X360 Laptop.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

Try and check in Bios using the F10 key if the screen has lines in Bios. To enter Bios, click restart and keep tapping the F10 key and then turn on the PC at the same time to enter Bios screen.

If the issue persists in Bios then it is a hardware issue on the screen.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
