Hello, this problem occured a while ago, and I had just given up on it then. But I decided I might as well ask here before I scrap it.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx, and I came home from school one day and it would not turn on. I performed a hard reset and still no dice. The charging indicator light stays lit up white when plugged in. The power LED indicator right next to it blinks constantly, along with the drive light (it blinks amber). Then the led light on the power button blinks. As well as the big HP logo light on the front. They do blink in an order.
First the power light on the right side blinks white, then the drive light blinks amber along with the big HP logo light and the light on the power button. The chargin indicator light remains lit white the entire time.
when unplugged and battery removed, and then plugged into the charger, the blinking does not happen until the power button is pressed. The charging indicator light remains lit white though.
When the charger is unplugged, and the battery installed, when I press the power button, the charging indicator light blinks amber 3 times. If I remember correctly, when the battery was charged, it had the same blinking pattern as when it was plugged in.
My gut tells me the motherboard is fried. But I would like to know what you think. Warranty is expired btw
Thanks in advance 😄

Hi,
Please follow the steps in the following document:
Computer does not start (Windows 7, Vista, XP): http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443371
You can follow the same troubleshooting steps for Notebooks with Windows 8 as well. Please choose the section that applies to your issue.
I hope that helps.

Ignore the first section which talks about Hard reset as you have already done that. Please refer to the rest of the document and follow everything religiously that falls very close to your issue for best help.
I am waiting to hear back from you.

Yes I did follow that document but it is of little help. None of the keyboard LEDs light up or blink. Only the lights on the side of the laptop such as the charge indicator and power light will blink. There is no beeping or fan noise, completely dormant besides the lights on the side of the computer.
I would initially believe it is a failed AC power adapter, but in the guide above it shows keyboard LED lights blinking, and mine do not. It is only the lights on the side of the laptop. I can not boot on AC power alone, with removed battery, nor can I start on just battery power.

Okay, I see.
Since this is the case, we will go ahead and reseat the Memory (RAM) and the Hard Drive (HDD) on the Notebook and see whether that makes a difference.
Reseating RAM:
First we will have to try reseating the RAM. Your Notebook should have 2 RAM slots. If you have got a single RAM Module, you can try removing that from the existing slot and place it on the other one and see whether the Notebook turns ON after that. If you have got two Modules, you can try swapping them. If that too does not work, try turning ON the Notebook with only 1 Module inserted and also by changing the slot. You will have to work the permutations and see whether the Notebook turns ON. This is to understand whether the issue is with any of the RAM slots or the RAM module itself.
Please find details on how to reseat the RAM from the following document:
General document on Steps for Removing and Replacing Memory Modules:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00262554
Reseating HDD
If reseating the RAM does not make any difference in the issue, we will reseat the Hard Drive cables.
General document on Steps for Removing and Replacing the Hard Disk Drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00649950
You just have to remove the Hard Drive cable and then insert it back to its actual position. This is to ensure there is no loose connection or static electricity accumulation. Check whether the Notebook works properly after doing this.
I am waiting to hear back from you.
