Hey everyone,
I have scoured the internet looking for a solution to this problem and am yet to find one so hopefully someone here might be able to help me. When I turn my laptop on, the screen is blank but the fans run, there is no light on the caps lock and the WiFi button is orange. So far I have tried the following to fix the problem:
1. Turning off, removing the battery, holding down the power button for up to 2 minutes then plugging into AC adapter and booting up multiple times
2. Trying to reset the BIOS using the instructions from the HP website
3. Trying to connect to an external display with no results
For a few months I've been getting reoccurring blue screen about the video card if I'm watching Netflix or a video on fullscreen for an hour or so. I did update the drivers when the screen was originally working but still got the same problem. I was only using my laptop this morning and closed the lid when I went out, since then I haven't been able to get the screen back on. If anyone could suggest anything I would be very grateful, thank you.

Hi ApplePippin,
Thanks for posting so much information, you've done a good deal of troubleshooting
The only steps left, and the notebook might not even let you try them, are the last ones in the document below. Please go to almost the bottom of the page to the "Troubleshooting other issues with computer not starting " section, and see if it works.
If all fails, you'd be best to contact HP support in North America at 1-800-474-6836 or find the local telephone number for your country here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html Please look for the category "Technical Support After you Buy"
Hope it works! Regards, Wally

I left my laptop overnight yesterday and then tried the taking the battery out, pressing start for 60 seconds etc. and my computer booted up! I managed to back up what I needed to on the computer. I shut it down to replace the battery but when I started it up again I encountered the same problem and couldn't get it to work even after numerous attempts of the same method. Any idea why it may have worked and then ceased to work?
Thank you.

I have just tried the method I did yesterday after leaving it overnight and it has worked yet again! I'm not really sure what the problem is but it seems to be a case of me just leaving my laptop on all day.
Thanks for your help.
