Hello!

A few days ago, my battery stopped charging all together. I ran some tests and it said my battery should be replaced as soon as possible. I assumed it was a faulty battery and so ordered a new one from HP from their parts store. It charged until 25%, then stopped all together and did the same thing that the last battery was doing. I shut down the computer, and did a system diagnotics tests. It says the same thing as it did before.

Now I'm guessing this isn't a battery issue, rather a computer issue. Does anyone have any suggestions? 😕

Hi!
This connector problem, where that poor contact, and that's why the system informs you that the battery is connected but not charging.
You need to carry your laptop to a service center.

Это проблема коннектора, где то плохой контакт, и именно по этому система информирует Вас о том, что батарея подключена но не заряжается.
Вам нужно нести Ваш ноутбук в сервисный центр.

And something odd is happening right now. I took out my AC adapter and looked at the battery. Apparently it is "pluggedin, not charging" when nothing is plugged in.

Hi

I suggest you do troubleshooting steps for your Notebook power supply, system motherboard, battery & lastly Calibrating the battery.

Here is the document to help you with the steps and identify the issue: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00259897

Did you try uninstalling Microsoft ACPI Battery adapter controller after powering on your Notebook in AC adapter, from Device Manager & reinstall it by restarting with battery put in?

Hope this resolves your issue

thanks,

To add on..

Did you try hard reset?

Do a hard reset:
Performing a hard or forced reset may fix the following conditions:

Windows stops responding
Computer stops before Windows loads (no boot, blinking cursor on a black display, or errors relating to OS not found or missing drive)
Display suddenly goes blank and stays blank
Software freezes
Keyboard stops responding
The computer does not return from sleep or suspend mode
An external device stops responding (turn off power to the device in addition to performing the steps in this document)

When performing a hard reset, you must disconnect or remove all peripheral devices. To resolve the start up or operational problem, you should run the HP Support Assistant, or manually install all updated drivers from Microsoft and HP.

To perform a hard reset, use the following steps:

Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected devices: USB storage devices, external displays, printers, etc.
Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook computer.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook computer; but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

Check if it's resolved,

thank you,
