More or less by chance I found an easy solution.
I saw that HP Support Assistent was available/listed in the Systemsteuerung - Program Deinstallation list. I let Windows deinstallate the program, which worked (again my question, why didn't Windows find the program when starting the computer???).
Afterwards I installed HP Support Assistant with sp72974.exe again and now my laptop starts up without any error report.
The HP Support Assistant is available as it was before.
Thanks for your advice: deinstallation of the old HP Support Assistant was the key, fortunately I could do it without an additional foreign program download.
