My HP v220w pen drive of 16 GB is write protected and i am allowed only to copy from it and nothing else, so i have tried all the possible methods to format it like "registry editor, command prompt, using disk manage, safe mode, also using bootable OS DVD". I think i have 2 options now, one to exchage it using warranty card and the other to try formatting using Open Source Operating System. If some one have any solutions for this please reply me...!

Hello umesh,
You have the Read Only error with the HP v220w pen drive.
Go to
http://www.pny.com.tw/index.php?cls=2&mode=download
Download USB Flash Driver Format Tool (Ufix-II).
You may need to have 7-Zip installed to extract the .rar file. It is a free download. http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Extract "RecoverTool_V2.00.42_M1223 8CE.exe" from the downloaded file and run.

karno, did you not try the fix above???
Download and run the USB Flash Driver Format Tool (Ufix-II).
http://www.pny.com.tw/index.php?cls=2&mode=download
It was made specifically to fix the read only error.
If that did not work, then return the drive for a replacement.
