Hi,

I recently got a new HP zBook Mobile Workstation and a docking station.  The built-in panel's native resolution is 1920x1080, which is great.  The docking station has 4 hook-ups for external monitors - VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt.  I have a 24" HP monitor, which I'd like to hook up with the docking station.  This monitor supports a resolution of 1920x1200, but I cannot get the 'Screen Resolution' window or NVIdia Control Panel to set the monitor to anything higher than 1920x1080.  I've tried connecting the monitor to the VGA port and DisplayPort (to VGA adapter) on the docking station, to no avail.  I can't use the DVI port or Thunderbold ports, as the monitor is shared with a KVM switch that's VGA only.

Can anyone help or offer an explanation as to why it won't allow me to select 1920x1200 resolution?  Any tips of things to try?

Much appreciated.  Thanks.

Joel

What is the hybrid graphics mode set to in the BIOS?

I have mine set on auto and when I plug into my zbook into the docking station the zbook display runs on the gpu (Intel) and my other two monitors both 1920x1200 run off the nvidia card.

My Hybrid graphics BIOS setting was set to 'Auto'.  I tried setting it to 'Enabled' and 'Disabled', but neither made a difference in allowing me to display 1920x1200 resolution.

When connected to the VGA port on my docking station, the monitor was using the Intel Graphics, and when connected to the DisplayPort on my docking station (via DP->VGA adapter), it was using the NVidia card.  In both cases, it would only show display options as high as 1920x1080, and would say "Recommended".

I was able to come up with a resolution though.  When connected to the DP port on my docking station, it uses the NVidia card, and when I access the NVidia Control Panel, it gives me the option under 'Customize' to 'Create Custom Resolution'.  I created a custom 1920x1200 resolution, which displays fine on my monitor.  Weird I had to do this, but it works, so I'm happy.  I've attached a screenshot showing how I did this.

Thanks for the response.
