i still have no luck. i was on the phone for an hour with an HP consultant that took over the use of my laptop... unfortunetly we were disconnected. so now i am back to square one again. i downloaded the driver that you suggested, and still the saME problem. could it not maybe be the program and not the driver?

Hi Mamablingbling,
Ralink Technology Corp. is the manufacturer of the 802.11bgn +BT Combo PCIe MC 3090 RASH, so you would install Ralink/Motorola Bluetooth Adapter Driver.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Hi Mamablingbling,
You could try doing the following
- click Start, click Run, type services, and then click OK.
- Double-click the Bluetooth Support service.
- If the Bluetooth Support service is stopped, click Start.
- On the Startup type list, click Automatic.
- Click the Log On tab.
- Click Local System account.
- Click OK.
- If you prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
Let me know.
Thanks

Hi Mamablingbling,
If the device was working. Ok before, I would suggest a system restore. Here is a document on how to do that.
If that does not work, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. I have exhausted my troubleshooting.
You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
Hope this works.
Thanks

i tried to do a system restore, but it wont take me to the date i need from when it was working. thank you for all that you have tried to do. i think i need to take my laptop in for a service and maybe they can see whats wrong. do you think that the bluetooth component might need to be replace?

Hey Mamablingbling,
Very rarely have I seen a component replaced unless the machine was dropped accidentally.
I hope they can fix this quickly for you.
Thanks
