Had a hard drive replaced - Feature byte not found in bios string!

HP Recommended
HP 255 G3 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

The hardrive on my HP 255 G3 failed so a replacement was installed using the same model of drive.

After installation the drive tested fine and so I ran a recovery file from a pen drive.

The screen came up resetting this PC but stops at 85%

It then goes to boot but comes up with "The system cannot find the batch label specified - END"

If I exit this I go into a Recovery Manager Screen which gives the message "Couldn't get FeatureByte from bios string..."

Reading previous posts it appears this is a security feature but why is this appearing on the same PC that the recovery drive was taken from in the first place and how do I correct this?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hey mike,

It doesn't sound like your recovery media matches your model.  Your system was built before featurebyte was implemented.  Try ordering replacement recovery media from HP.
