Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)
Opened the laptop today and the left side of the screen is as normal, there is a thick black line in the centre and the right side of the screen is white. No dots, no coloured lines, no damage has occurred. I am unable to shut down and restart laptop due to this. Bought the laptop from Argos at the end of April. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

I grasp that the right side of your display is blank. The left side is OK and there is a thick black line in the center.

 

I am not sure if this link will help but would you take a look at it.

Have you done all your Windows updates?

 

Have you ran the HP Support Assistant to acquire any HP updates?

 

If you connect an external monitor do you have the same issue?
