Then start a support case on it. SMART errors are SMART errors and if there are bad sectors you would think the HP diagnostic tool would pick them up. But the tools you are using are reliable and I would hope HP would recognize they justify a replacement hard drive. Sometimes they will just ship you one and have you return the bad one. I assume you are fully backed up?

Seems a rather rigid position for them to take. Let me see if I can bump it up for review. No promises but watch your PM for contact from HP.
And just for my information, did you run a good old chkdsk on the drive? If there are bad sectors they will show up there.

No the hard drive keeps track of reallocating sectors and any SMART diagnostic tool including chkdsk should be able to see that if it happened. Are you actually having performance issues? A hard drive with that many reallocated sectors would be booting slow, running slow, acting squirrely.
