HP Envy M6
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I have the Envy M6 with Windows 8.1 and I was just casually watching a video and my sound decides to cut from my heaphones and onto my laptop speakers. I keep trying to finagle the headphones in the jack and they only seem to be working if i push them in really hard and hold my hand pushing them in. It isn't my headphones because i tried plugging a speaker into the headpone jack and it acted the same way. I'm not sure what happened but it was pretty random because i wasn't even moving and it cut out all of a sudden.

I'm wondering if I should worry about fixing this or just get a new laptop. I've had this one for almost 4 years now. Any help on if this is fixable or not would be greatly appreciated. If it costs an arm and a leg to fix or can't be fixed, should I just buy a new laptop? I'm not very tech-savvy, just a warning.

Thanks.

Hi @savemeshinigami ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Envy m6 Notebook and issues with the Headphone jack going on and off. The Jack is secured with a solder, which could have become loosened or slack with time. I would try to find someone that repairs Notebooks and let them know that it needs to be resoldered and find out how much they would charge you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
