How to clear BIOS admin password HP Elite 2530p?

I have found the way to clear out my bios administator password on this HP Elitebook 2530p notebook.

1) Download & Install - HP System Software Manager

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42501-43000/sp42536.exe

2) Windows 7 > Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt (Right click & Run as administrator)

a. Type cd\

b. Type cd\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SSM
c. Type biosconfigutility.exe to start the utility. A list of commands displays
d. Type biosconfigutility.exe /newsetuppassword:"" to remove BIOS administrator password

e. Type biosconfigutility.exe /newsetuppassword:"password" to create a new BIOS administrator password

3.) Restart the notebook & press F10 at startup

4.) Log in using the new BIOS administrator password (the password is password)

5.) Choose User Management and delete any previous ProtectTools users

6.) Choose Change Password under User Tools to remove/change BIOS administrator password

7.) Save the new settings & exit setup.

If this works please let me know thanks and press like button for best answer as well thanks in advance...

Dear @LeshaPolins

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.

The above procedure desribed by the other user will not work.

Most business class notebooks (including yours Elitebook and Probook) have better security. You will have to contact HP Support for assistance on removing the password.

Here is how >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

Contact them via chat option. Level 1 agent will collect all the necessary information and will escalate the case to tier II support. After several days uou will be contacted again via email.  HP Business support should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file and instructions which you can use  to reset the password.  Support is free for business class notebooks.

Let me know how it goes, provide feedback and do not hesitate to post again if you need further assistance.

Let me know if you face any difficulties.
