It does look like that, but the volumn icon near the clock has an X through it and it says No Audio Output Device is installed.  Seems like everythign else is correct though and no sound

Hi,

When you look in Device Manager, under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, does the IDT High Definition Audio device show up?

Hi,

From windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and then open Services.  Check that the following services are showing as listed below.

Windows Audio                                                     This should show as Started and the start-up type should be Automatic

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder                      This should show as Started and the start-up type should be Automatic

Multimedia Class Scheduler                              This should show the start-up type as Automatic

Hi,

Go back in to Device Manager, right click on the IDT High Definition Audio Device and select Uninstall.  When this has completed, click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the device and see if it now works.

Hi,

From windows Control Panel, open Sound, left click the IDT entry once and then click the Properties button.  In the following window, click the Levels tab and check that the slider is not set all the way to the left.  Next, click the Enhancements tab and put a check mark in the box tittled 'Disable All Enhancements' then click Apply.  Does this make any difference?

Unfortunately it did not change any thing.

Hi,

This is certainly puzzling.  Try the following.

Download the chipset installer on the link below and save it to your Desktop.

Chipset Driver

Next, go back to Device Manager, right click on the IDT Device and select Uninstall.  When this has completed, go back to your Desktop and double click the Chipset installer to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows reinstall the Device.  See if there is any sound now.
