Hello.

I've joined up here after searching all around the web for a solution to my problem only to have nothing work. It seems i have a unique problem that no one else seems to be experiencing.

You see, I have a HP Pavilion g7 notebook pc that I have in the past connected to my emerson flat screen tv. Until recently it has worked just fine in my bedroom, but a couple days ago I purchased a new flat screen tv and video game system for my downstairs area. My gaming system did not come with all the pieces so I took my hdmi and hooked it from my playstation 3 into the new flat screen. It worked just fine but when I decided to bring my HDMI back upstairs it would not work anymore.

The next day I went out to purchase another HDMI since I was sure that the problem was with my HDMI cord and still my Flat screen would show a "No signal" message when I connected it to my Laptop.

I'm at my wits end here, I have no idea what the problem could be, I have tried ALL of the methods that I have searched for on the web such as toggling through the Fn+F4 dispays or going to my personilzation options and choosing to extend the displays or duplicate them. I have cycled through all the basic solutions found amongst the web and still nothing seems to work.

So I've come here hoping that someone can give me a solution to this problem.

I used to run my flat screen in a resolution of 1920x1080 when connected to my laptop but my laptop only has a resolution of 1600x900. The reason why I am saying this is because I here that the problem may also have to do with the output resolution not meeting the resolution of the Flat screen tv, if so, how would I reach that resolution from my laptop?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated it, I have been at this for the last 2 days.

Rick74,

I understand that you are not able to use the HDMI on your laptop to the TV.

Go to start type sound.

Select sound.

Set HDMI as default.

If you do not see HDMI right click and device and sleet show disabled devices and sleet HDMI.

Hit OK.

Let me know how everything goes.

Thanks for the reply, I was starting to think I may never get one lol.

But regarding your suggestion, I'm sorry to report that it did not help either.

Got any other suggestions?

can anyone help?

Please lend me a hand here, I'm on the verge of doing a system recovery if all does not work well and its really the last thing I would want to do since I have  a lot of music, video, and personal files that I would not want to lose.

Did you try to force the connection?

Check if there is an option called try to connect  anyone on: HDMI

To get this screen go to screen resolutin in control panel, press the Windows buttong +  P and select your choice. Than go back to the control panel (refresh), Select Another display not slected and check out the options. (choose also the display)

I'm having problems to :S
