HP OMEN - 17-w206no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.. New to the forum and first time HP-owner.

I recently bought a new laptop, the

HP OMEN - 17-w206no

I experince some problems with my keyboard when I'm holding down keys for more than a few seconds..

The problem accurs when I play games like Rocket League and CS:GO. When I hold down letter keys like W to move forward/accelerate. And turn keys like A and D. The key suddently stops responding and the throttle/moving stops. I have to lift my finger off the button and press again. There doesnt seem to be any pattern that courses it but I can tell you it is very frustrating. I have tried to look in Control Panel for options, couldnt find anything that seems to solve the problem. I deactivated my touchpad (got other mouse connected by USB), but still the same problem.

Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance

Welcome to the HP Forums

I saw your post on your HP OMEN - 17-w206no computer and you are getting issues with the keyboard. I am happy to help you with this issue!

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

Are you facing this issue only when you are playing games?

Meanwhile:

Click here and follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the document and check if that works.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Hey Sandy

Thanks for your response.

I've tried some of the solutions in the link you send. I removed all keyboard drivers from the Device Manager and restarted. Same result in game. I only experience the problem in games. But I think it's because I dont use the keyboard that way in any other form of use of the computer. I use a couple of button while playing. SHIFT, W, A, S, D, CTRL and SPACEBAR are the most used. I checked for FilterKeys, they are off in the settings. I've tried pressing F2 under startup and started the komponent test of the keyboard. Nothing to be found.

I bought this laptop on May 3th. So it cant be dirt under the keys.

Maybe it could be some connection problem between keyboard and motherboard. I have read about it online.

I don't know what to do from here. I've tried everything I could find on your website, and search for solutions on other sites. Nothing seems to help..

Best regards

Thanks for the reply.

  • Please confirm if the you are getting same issue on different application.
  • Use an external keyboard and check if you are getting the same issue.

Reply with the outcome of the above troubleshooting steps for further assistance.
