Hi,

Please check the order details of the notebook if you have got bluetooth module with it.

If Hp has shipped the bluetoothe module,

You can use the HP Wireless Assistant to enable Bluetooth devices that have been turned off.

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

It looks like you need that bth dongle. I can't find bluetooth in the specifications for this model..

Thanks, I wanted to verify that I wasn't thinking of spending money on something that might already be buried inside my machine!

Good idea, except that the machine was purchased from Staples (off-the-shelf) and the  'order' was effectively a one-line entry! The machine content viewed electronically does not have any Bluetooth module mentioned.

By 'HP Wireless Assistant' did you mean 'HP Support Assistant'?....this is all that my machine was supplied with.

No, in the right bottom corner of the desktop is an icon for HP Wireless Assistant. You can see all installed wireless devices in there and there is also an option to turn them on or off...

Thanks....icon was 'hidden'....have now displayed it and only shows WLAN present and active. I will pursue purchase of a Bluetooth dongle.

Ok, I have found the manual for CQ61-300 series: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?redirectReason=DocIndexPDF&prodSer...

It says that the bluetooth module and cable are for selected models only. I don't know which models exactly but make sure and have look inside the laptop to see if integrated bluetooth is available for your model. It's better than a usb dongle. See page 69..
