The Control Zone Touch Pad on my HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC is preventing me from being able to comfortably type. How do I turn it off?
I prefer my wireless mouse and this is a touch screen... seems overly redundant.
Thank You!

Good for you Crotalus, it took me all day to learn that "Control Zone" is HP-Speak for "touch pad".
You did not say what Obsfucation System you are using ... here's how I did it in Win 8.1 on my new laptop.
I have no experience with Win 8 until today.
(wait till you see what HP considers a good "default" setting for their "zone")
HP Agony M7 laptop (feb 2015) Win 8.1
Problem: touch pad can't be disabled.
HP removed the switch, and eschewing the term everyone is looking for: "touch pad", for the much more frustrating and confusing " Control Zone ", effectively hid the enable box deep behind the inscrutable Windows 8.1 Obsfucation System.
Solution: first you have to find "control panel" in Windows 8.1 it took me all day
move the cursor to the lower right corner of the screen and wiggle it around.
a frying pan icon appears on the middle right side -- click it
in the Search box type "control panel "
just below appears "control panel" icon click it
old and familiar control panel appears --
click on "hardware and sound"
top of the list under devices and printers : click "mouse"
a mouse properties box opens
click "HP Control Zone Settings" tab
in the middle of the dialog box you will see :
"Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached." check the box.
click "apply"
