HP 250 G4 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have bought a 4Gb RAM card to upgrade my HP 250 G4 Notebook to 8Gb RAM, because it is very slow.

I read in the HP literature that 2x 4Gb was a valid combination for this model, so based on that I assumed there was at least 2 slots.

However when I opened up the machine I can only see the one slot.

Can you please confirm whether it is possible to upgrade the RAM with an additional card; or do Ihave to purchase a single 8Gb card to replace the one that came with the laptop ?

Hi,

Firstly you only read half of the story. HP 250 G4 is a series of MANY models/products and there are few options for RAM:

MEMORY
Standard
DDR3L - 1600 (Transfer rates up to 1600 MT/s)
Dual channel support (Intel® CoreTM i5 and i3 processors & Broadwell Pentium 3825U)
Single channel support (Braswell Celeron N3050/Pentium N3700 )

NOTE: Memory is non customer accessible / upgradeable
2048 MB (2048 MB x 1)
4096 MB (2048 MB x 2) (not applicable for Braswell Celeron N3050/Pentium N3700)
4096 MB (4096 MB x 1)
6144 MB (2048 MB x 1 + 4096 MB x 1) (not applicable for Braswell Celeron N3050/Pentium N3700)
8192 MB (4096 MB x 2) (not applicable for Braswell Celeron N3050/Pentium N3700)
8192 MB (8192 MB x 1)

Maximum
Up to 8 GB

Secondary, your machine runs Windows 10 32 bit, 8GB won't help because 32bit OS won't access more than 4GB.

And thirdly:  Memory is non customer accessible / upgradeable

Regards.
