Elitebook 8440p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using an  HP Elitebook 8440p  Laptop that does have an internal Bluetooth radio, but it is not the latest version.  How can I disable the internal radio and use a Bluetooth USB Dongle?  Also, any thoughts on how to increase the Bluetooth range from the Elitebook to my Creative Sound Blaster E5?   The E5 is Bluetooth 4.0 and the radio in the Elitebook is 2.1+EDR.  Would a Range Extender be beneficial?
Thanks,
Dave

Go into BIOS under System Configuration.

Then Built-in Device Options.

You can disable it there.

Do you think I will see an improvement in range with a Bluetooth 4.0 dongle?

@ABQDave

It's a little hard to find spec's for the range of the dongle's.

But because it will be external I would think that would help increase the range since the built-in one is inside the laptop.

Range and overall stability has increased with dongle Bluetooth.  I, as you stated, believe that it due to the radio being external to the laptop and not buried inside.

Thank you for your direction,

Dave
