Hi,

The path of the hosts file in Windows 7:

   %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\

it's hidden, you can edit this file using Notpad and you NEED Admin rights to do this.

You can find out more info from the following link:

  http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/windows-7-hosts-file/

Regards.

Open up your hosts file, it is located at:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

In Notepad, add your website IP address and name

Such as: 102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com

Then Save the file, and relaunch Internet Explorer.

1. Goto Start > Run
2. Type following command & click OK button.
notepad c:WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
3. A notepad window will open with text content.

Scroll down at the bottom to view IP address and host information (like: 127.0.0.1localhost). Here you can add URLs with 127.0.0.1 IP address to block them (like 127.0.0.1 facebook.com)

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.  When I click on "Save", a message appears saying I do not have permission to save the file in this location..  Any advice?

Hi,

The directions for adding an IP address from the link  were followed. I used Mozilla firefox browser.  But it did not work.  The message appears which says I do not have permission to save the file in this location.

Hi,

As mentioned above, you NEED Admin rights to be able to edit that file. Do you have Admin rights/privileges ?
