Manually reinstall the Bluetooth hardware
Depending on the design, a wireless radio card may support only a WLAN connection or it may support both WLAN and Bluetooth. Use the following steps to visually examine and reinstall the wireless card.
NOTE: | This method will require you to turn off the notebook and use hand tools to partially disassemble the PC. |
- Turn off the PC, disconnect the AC power supply and remove the battery.
- Turn the notebook over and place it upside down on a clean and firm work surface.
- Use a Phillips screw driver to loosen the screw that secures the cover over the network card. Remove the cover.
NOTE: | If the wireless radio hardware was not included with your HP notebook PC, there will not be a wireless card inserted into the slot. This must be purchased separately. |
- Remove the antenna wires from the card. Be sure to note the color of the wire on each connection so they can be replaced correctly.
- Using your finger tip or a small wooden tool, spread the locking clips. This will release the card and allow one edge to rise slightly.
- Gently move the card to loosen it completely, then press it firmly back into position so the card is seated fully in the holder. The gold connections on the card should be pressed completely into the holder. The locking clips click as the card snaps into place.
- Install the antenna wires: the black wire attaches onto Main and the white wire attaches onto Aux .
- Replace the card cover and tighten the retaining screw.
- Turn the notebook right-side up, re-install the battery, re-attach the power cord, and restart the PC.
