Hi, I've got a secondhand Probook 4540s from a shop near me which sells used laptops. At the time i got it it came with Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Everything was working smoothly, then I started updating the graphics card drivers and other drivers in it (in hopes of improving perfomance) and it was around that time that windows started complaining that this version of windows is not genuine. (I think it was after i updated bios or something. or I used a non microsoft software to download microsoft updates because my microsoft update manager was not working)
So to the problem at hand now. I want to format my pc and for that I need windows product key right? I cant find it! It is not in the back of my laptop, not under the battery (The battery is seemed to be replaced) and I did not get any installation media along with the laptop.
Any idea how to get my windows product key? or do I even need one to install windows in this laptop (like win8)
I dont think the people at the shop can help me on this.
(Also, the Probook 4540s does ship with windows installed right?)

Thank you for the reply.
I already tried that and the keyfinder says my key is - "HYF8J-CVRMY-CM74G-RPHKF-PW487"
( I dont think this is a real key as there is some pirating technique associated with this key. Also when i tries to activate with it through cmd.exe it says that the key is blocked)
Running MgaDiag also gives me this partial key - "*****-*****-CM74G-RPHKF-PW487"

I already tried that and the keyfinder says my key is - "[Personal Information Removed]"
( I dont think this is a real key as there is some pirating technique associated with this key. Also when i tries to activate with it through cmd.exe it says that the key is blocked)
The only reason I tried to activate it through the cmd is because i get an error msg saying that "windows cannot access slui.exe" while trying through the usual methode.

Okey, Is there any way to know which OS my Laptop shipped with?
According to HP Support Assistant , my serial number- [Personal Information Removed]
and Product Number- C5E13ES#ABV
I'm guessing if it was shipped with windows 8, then I wont be needing a Microsoft Product key right?

Hi, @Sarath22 :
Unless for some reason somebody removed the W7 product key sticker from your notebook's case, if there is no W7 product key, it is very possible your notebook came with W8 Pro, with a downgrade to W7 Pro from the factory.
If my assumption is correct, there should be a W8 product key in the BIOS.
I have zipped up and attached a little program that will find the product key in the BIOS.
If one exists, it should be for W8 Pro.
