HP ENVY x360 - m6-w103dx (ENER
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The hard disk (HDD) of my laptop was replaced by the HP service center as it had failed. Due to this I no longer have an OS for my laptop. I have not created any recovery media either. I would like to know whether it is possible to recover my OS by any means. Also any information on whether HP will install a new OS for me as my warranty period is not yet over will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I don't understand -- as the HP Service Center should have also reloaded the original OS onto your drive, not left you with a blank drive.

Please provide the detail information on the Service Center that did this -- so I can pass that information along to the forum Mods -- to get to HP.

Hello @HELPHP2

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome.

I see your PC models comes with Windows 10 Home edition OEM.

I can't comment on HP policies as I don't work for HP Inc. but I think that if your warranty period is over, they will not install the OS for free and may charge you for the support. But HP provides free support by the means of articles, instructions, videos and the official support forum here. Of course if you warranty period is not over, you should be able to get a free support.

In order to recover your operating system, you will need to obtain the original HP recovery media from here > http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-28305-windows-10-home-1b-recovery-kit-857107-003-for-hp-envy-x360-...

This is a USB recovery drive.  Once you receive it, you will need to boot your PC from  the USB and complete the recovery process. Here are instructions how to do it >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net&section=ccweb&SFS=tdoc&language=english...

You need Recovery Media to boot from and install Windows. You may get a set free since you are still in warranty and the hdd failed before you made your set, Start a warranty request here. On the selection choose My issue isn't listed and the button "Continue to Contact HP" will then become active.

Thank you for the tips and suggestions. I realized that the problem arose as I purchased my laptop from US but I gave it for sevice in India. So the service centers in India won't be able to replace the OS.

@HELPHP2 Only way to get the Recovery Media would be someone in US accept shipment of them.

Another option would be to use the free Windows Media Creation Tool to make an installation on dvd or usb flash drive. During install skip where you enter license key and it should retrieve your embedded key from BIOS.
