I was finally able to get the 840 EVO to work but there is no ACHI to access to it runs but not to full potential.

During the data migration it appears the Rapid Start SSD was wiped clean or wiped when I disabled Rapid Start in BIOS and then migrated the data. In any case the statup is about three times slower without the Rapid Start SSD.

I'm hoping that if I can reinstall the SSD software and reinstall it on the system the start up will eturn to its original speed.

Any way to reprogrm the Rapid Start SSD?

Thanks

According to this page, if you can't enable AHCI (I wouldn't even try RAID!), then you can't use Rapid Start SSD:  http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/545794/en

Sorry

This computer system never had ACHI but instead uses RAID, configured in BIOS by enabling Rapid Start. Even then it wasn't much of a Raid since you could remove the Rapid Start SSD and the system would boot from the slaved HDD.

My issue appears to be that the Rapid Start SSD lost its programming so it isn't recognized by the Rapid Storage software. This is preventing my re-enabling the RAID and using it to Rapid Start the system. And since the system doesn't have ACHI the 840 SSD will not perform to its potential and the start-up is very slow.

Once up and running it works well enough, at least better than the 5400 RPM HDD, and the extra 500megs storage was the most important aspect of upgrading.

I believe if I can get the Rapid Start SSD working and pair it back up with the slaved 840 SSD it will work fine. I just need to fine out how to get the RS SSD reprogrammed.
