B Increase the Windows 7 performance
01. Scan your computer using antivirus and antimalware software.
The information about this type of software, recommendations and comments based on the experience
of HP experts you will find in the below link:
02. Update the HP software and drivers to the latest version.
Click the Support & Drivers link here.
In the search box type your notebook product number (p/n).
Resource:
How to Locate the Notebook p/n
Choose ' Next '.
Click ' Software & Driver Downloads '.
Use the dropdown selector to select correct operation system and click ' Next '.
03. Update system using Windows Update.
04. Uninstall Bloatware software from your computer:

06. Disable gadgets or do not use many of them at one time:
How to Enable or Disable Gadgets in Windows 7
How to Add or Remove Desktop Gadgets in Windows 7
07. Clean your computer using CCleaner (free software).
How to do it?
Download, install and run the software. At the bottom-left side of the aplication click the ' Analyze ' button.
When this process will end hit the ' Run cleaner ' button which is at the bottom-right side.
08. Defragment the registry using Auslogics Registry Defrag (free software).
09. Defragment the hard drive using one of below solutions:
- built-in system Disk Defragmenter;
- Auslogics Disk Defrag - the best free software;
- Diskeeper 12 - the best defrag software on the market.
Important information!
I. Solid State Drive (SSD) should not be defragment. Doing so may shorten the lifespan of the SSD drive.
So how can you ensure a longer life and faster performance of this type of drives?
Both of those things you can achieve by using Diskeeper with HyperFast SSD Optimizer add-on.
More info about it you will find here.
II. You should switch off automatic defragmentation which is scheduled by default in Windows 7.
Why? When it will be runing in background it will cause a slight slow down and extra hard drive activity.
How to Turn the Windows 7 Disk Defragmenter Schedule On or Off
10. Disable system restore (often recommended but not recommended by me):
The easiest solution would be to stop the services responsible for the automatic creation of restore points:
How to Turn System Protection On or Off in Windows 7
Warning!
Disabling this service will result in automatic deletion of all of your restore points.
Peform this step only if you are sure that you will always remember about making regular backups on your own.
How to do backup? Check the topic created by CherylG in the below link:
Are there any disadvantages of such a solution?
Yes. At the time, when you get a serious problem with the system (example, after installing a software or driver)
you will not be able to restore the system to the state before the problem occurred.
For this reason, this solution is risky.
This process is not performed frequently and do not last long, therefore has very little impact on system
performance, so exclusion of such a simple and at the same time useful service would be bad decision.
For more information about restore points, see: Restore Points (Windows)

Much safer solution is to set how much disk space will be used by the restore point:
To open System Properties, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then
click System. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
Select a drive from the Available drives box by clicking it, and then click Settings. If you have only one drive
or partition, it is selected for you.
In the Drive <drive: >settings box, move the Disk space to use slider to change the disk space allocation
for System Restore.
Note:
System Restore requires at least 200 MB of available space on the hard disk.
By default, when the operating system installs System Restore on your computer, it allocates approximately 12
percent of the available disk space to System Restore to archive restore points.
