Hi,
I have Hp Compaq 615 laptop ( I know it's been 8 years so far and my baby still running like a champ. I just can't give up on it) Lately I upgraded my RAM and all went great. I decided to upgrade my processor too but I know it is more complicated process, so Im here to get the best advice. What is the compatible processor that can fit my laptop.
HP Compaq 615
Processor: AMD Sempron SI-42 2.10 GHz
Installed Memory RAM: 4.00 GB
Operating system: Win 7 Pro 46-Bit

Turion™ RM-74 2.20-GHz processor, 1-MB L2 Cache
$14.50 on eBay:
See Page 4-49 for instruction on replacing the processor.

Thank you! PreeOne for taking the time to reply. I don't not that much about upgrading that's why I'm here. I don't know which is better to upgrade, AMD/Intel processors. I have no clue. Are you saying that AMD processors laptops can't be uprgaded with Intell processors? What is range of cost we are talking about here, in case of worth upgrading?

Precisely, AMD and Intel cannot be interchangeable. The sockets are different. You can install a better AMD CPU like an Athlon or Turion. Semprons are the budget AMD processor and very poor. AMD processors are fairly cheap but the work to upgrade is hard. Do you really want to try? Very few laptop CPU upgrades actually get done. Post back for more help if you are a serious

Thank you very much, Huffer! I really I appreciate it. Yes, I would like to try a new processor for my laptop. And yes I am serious about getting those upgrades. Please I'd need your advise, so I can purchase any hardware needed for this process.
