Who are you? Was any one talking to you?? You seem to view this space as your own fiefdom .
Why so rude to me, and polite to Maxhello??
Why do you try to speak for ****wizard what ever it's name???
Mind your own buisness.

But that is my complaint, you do not save people time, or frustration.
Once or twice you mention that this proceedure MAY not work, if this and that, but MOST of the time you just give the" download the tool " speech. If you want to help people you should be qualified to do so. With full disclosure and , yes, often repeated warnings. The warning should accompany each mention of possible solution.
If anyone wants to make a better world ( in all respects ) then be the best you can, and never stop improving.

You are one of the very few that complain here on the user to user forums. Sorry if you thought I was rude, my apologies.

maxhello, thanks for detailing how to manually build a USB recovery key based on HP UEFI Recovery feature built into the 2010 and newer HP Notebook PCs. As I indicated, this method will NOT work on all HP PCs. It was added in 2010.
I also want to note that the feature is built into the system as built by HP. If you re-format your hard drive, you remove the auto-recovery feature. You can re-install the feature using the HP UEFI Update download. You can also create a USB recovery key as you have detailed. The difficulty is finding the correct BIOS image for your PC.
If your PC does support the auto-recoveyr feature you can create a USB recovery key. You have to manually write the Bin and Sig files from the BIOS update to the USB key in the BIOS/Current folder on the USB key. The Bin and Sig files can be obtained by launching the BIOS update for the computer you are trying to recover on another PC. After it launched, close the installer. The files you need will be in the C:\SWSetup folder under the folder SPxxxxx depeding on the SoftPAQ you downloaded. This is not a simple process and is best performed with the help of an HP tech. Again, thisonly works on PCs hat have the built in auto-recovery support. Your best bet is to not re-format the hard drive and remove the feature.
I hope this helps.

Hi Maxhello....
Thanks for your excellent help.
Right now, I have my DV6 recovered from a wrong Bios selection (just to get the advance options available).
I did follow your guidance...
Computer Status before recovery process:
No video activity, so nothing happens. And like 10 or 15 second from the start, the laptop start sending led error in the Caps Lock button (two blinks, two seconds without activity, and again two blinks [ BIOS error code]).
I did try every possible keyboard combination, and every USB contents I read in every forum. No so away for the correct procedure, but I’ll never get anything doing like I was doing it.
Further sent my laptop to local HP support (not so good… just have it there like a month, and now I have a video problem, resolved momentary with an external display) but I’ll will go tomorrow to kick their door….
No today I get it back, and follow the procedure and here we are writing from it. Thanks to you…
It only takes 20 min at last.
I will refer to this answer in every related topic I find… no more HP secrets and malicious behavior.
So I love HP, BUT THIS IS THE LAST ONE I EVER BUY…
Why I must look for a solution for a problem that HP create for me?. I just needed the Advance BIOS option to do my things; HP is not the owner of my machine. If I want to throw it away, or jump on it, or change the operative system to an experimental one or something like that, HP shouldn’t interfere with my projects.
So Maxhello, thanks again…

Glad to hear the information helped Javierhdiaz!!
It sure was hard to find some decent information on the subject huh...
HP sure likes to lock down their laptops. I don't see why they put so much effort into locking down the computer so the consumer has no choice of putting in a wifi card they want or being able to configure advanced options in the bios. I guess it comes down to HP making $$$ to sell their components unfortunately.
My experiences with my first HP laptop was GREAT, so i bought this second HP Laptop, but this will be my LAST.

Hi :
I made a big mistake :
Trying to update my working (office) laptop I searched the HP support page on DV6910 basis.. it replied that the latest bios available was F.58 sp39862.exe so I diwnloaded and installed and then kaput !!! The pc is not booting only turns on but showa blank (black) screen and nothing else happens. Doing a deeper research I've founded the search criteria should be dv6910us with latest bios F.34 sp52477.exe Now I'm trying to fix the problem but can´t get any solution. I've prepared the usb drive HP_TOOLS name, Hewlett Packard directory on it, bios inside, etc but I can't find the bin and sig files on the sp52477.exe directory. What can I do ?
I would relly appreciate some expert advice.... Thanx a lot for your attention

@fpabon
This link will help you in creating your .sig .bin files needed for your USB HP_TOOLS
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/35272-HP-Insyde-BIOS-recovery-steps
just remember that the program mentioned in the link will generate the new .bin and .sig file (which you have to rename) from the original .bin file to put into your USB drive. Actually i copied the .bin and .sig file into all the different folders in the USB drive including the root folder just to make sure the recovery tool would find it which ever directory it had to look into.

Where does one download this mysterious "phoenixtool" mentioned in that thread? Seems strange that they do not link to it. Without it that advice is useless.

I guess the advice is useless for people not willing to google "phoenixtool" to look for the program. It is the like the first entry that pops up when you google it...
for those that are too lazy to google "phoenxtool", here is the link:
