Hey,
Tried everything to remove bios password from this computer, bought it used. It dont give me any system lockup code even if i try wrong password multiple times. Is there some key combination to get this code?
I have ofcrouse P/N S/N and service tag numbers/codes from back of laptop, would these help to generate password?
thx in advance

There is a major difference in the BIOS of the ProBooks and EliteBooks"Business Class laptops" and the"Home Class laptops"
Home Class laptops most produce a halt code " After 3 failed attempts " that we can generate a master code from
" http://bios-pw.org/ " ,
remove the BIOS battery and some have contacts on the motherboard that can be shorted to remove the password.
Some Home Class laptops have an option to set "STRINGENT SECURITY" that is similar to that of the Business Class laptops."If STRINGENT SECURITY is enabled and you forget the password there is no way to remove it."
There are ways to set system information but that is a work in progress for me.

Contact HP.

Or download these files.

Insert clean USB flash drive.
Then run USB Image tool.
Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE.
After restore remove flash drive.
Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot.”If HDD is installed remove before booting.”
At C:\OUTPUT type CD.. “Then hit enter”
Type HPBR “Then hit enter”
First thing is to save your settings.
Select #3 re-program.
Press “S” to save system information.
Type HPBR and hit enter.
Since your model is not listed select “SHOTGUN.”
After reboot repeat “SHOTGUN” a second time.
Let me know the result so I can update my list.
Some instructions here.

More help here.
If you cannot boot from the USB drive there are instructions to make a bootable HDD.

Hey, thank you very much, i will try this. I forgot to mention that i can boot to x64 win7 cause i can use boot menu with F9 command at startup. Thing is i will give this laptop to my friend and he wants to install SSD later on and wants to modify bios settings also. And bios is still locked with password, but when i go to bios configuration program in OS it asks bios password but i can see option stringent security isnt marked. So it should be recoverable.
I have USB now with this program, will try this later tonight and remove HDD from laptop. Just want to ask if this works will my win7 os work after plugging hdd back in? Or do i need to do clean install again.
thx alot

It didnt work, nice program though was well made. Did everything you instructed and after pressing shotgun and * press any key*:
Prepare to clear bios password
Notebook is not supported (30d8)
And few lines like this, last line was:
Utility to reset Bios
Notebook is not supported (30d8)

Should i have been waiting longer at this point? Pressed both times ctrl-alt-del to reboot after waiting for 5-10mins?
Anyway i tried removing battery for days with this laptop and like dozen different bios crackers. Nothing works.
Also starting without bios battery or ram / different combinations.
thx anyway, you can give me still suggestions. Can say HP really makes hard bios password to crack 😄

Thanks for help though. Why some HP models give this system lockup code when pressing wrong digits and some not?
I uploaded picture where i try to enter bios, when i try enter letters or numbers it doesnt give any ***** marks, after pressing enter it just says SETUP PASSWORD. After 3 attempts i get this mark on the last line. No lockup code.
I logged back to OS and it doesnt seem to recodnize bios / system or cpu at all in system information or dxdiag. Can i use same USB stick to restore old information or how to fix this?

Thanks for assistance, seems like theres no way to get backdoor password for this one.
What if i try short circuiting the bios chip? Could it work without the need to replace whole bios chip, im on factory bios.. theres loads of newer bios rom files which i cant flash because that asks setup password also.
Also need newer bios for SSD to work.
I tried your reprogram options to load saved information and reset UUID, still cant get system information on control panel=> system or dxdiag, does this make my OS unstable or just missing info? Since aida64 can see my ram installed and chipset drivers etc.

Seems like system information missing wont really do a thing, system is working like before. I will accept contact HP as solution, dont wanna risk short circuiting eeprom chip bricking my mobo.
If contacting hp goes nowhere i can still try getting new chip.. will update on this thread once i know.
