I believe that I've done everything suggested on this post to enable the two finger scrolling, rotation and three finger flick. They do work, but only after I try five or six or more times. If I wet my fingers, it may work after one or two times. The pinch to enlarge or shrink seems to work and the one finger functions respond immediately, so because of that I think the hardware works ok. My question: is it just a really bad touchpad or do you think there is something wrong with the hardware (or software)? It's so frustrating that you can't really even use it. I have the latest driver from the hp support site.

hey caroline, i think the pointer device quite frankly blows. I just got this laptop today and I really think HP should wise up and have another manufacturer make the pointing device for their laptops. I am 50% positive i will return this unless they will just put something else in.

Update: I finally thought to call HP support! They had me download the driver from their support site (I had gone to the manufacturers site) and also update the BIOs. Now it works. Actually, the two finger scroll is the only one that doesn't work well, but the edge scroll works fine, so I'll just use that. The pinch feature to zoom is great.

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity on the touchpad for scrolling? Or tips for getting it to work better? With a textured pad, I'm afraid I'm going to wear callouses on my fingertips trying ... I can't always "grab" the screen. I find I have better luck using my middle and ring fingers instead of the index and middle. And I can't use the pads of my fingers, I have to use the very tips just below the fingernails, which is difficult when I have long nails ... am I doing something wrong? This is my first laptop (g7) with the two-finger scroll option.
Appreciate any help!

Hi, the drivers are properly installed in my HP Pavilion dv6t. Synaptics touchpad driver application is getting loaded on startup but instead of "C:\Program Files" it starts with a percentage symbol as "%Program Files%\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe. Does that mean that the drivers are corrupted. As two finger and three finger scrolling is not working in my touch pad. Please help me on this. Even in the Mouse Device Settings the two and three finger scrolling options are enabled properly. Please help me on this asap. Thanks in advance. Pradheesh

you may turn off your touch pad OR adjust the setting in the control panel. OR you can disable the pad totally as I did using the button just above the pad(will turn orange red when off) and then use a optical woreless mouse as I do. Much better for carpal tunnel issues to use a standard mouse. The touch pad is for convenience in my opinion.

I see how you update to use 2 finger scrolling and it works most of the time but I prefer one finger scrolling and there is a scrolling check box that is checked but does not allow me to scroll on the right edge of the touchpad. Is there a fix for this?

Hi there,
I just received an hp dv7-7020us notebook. I am trying to change settings from two-finger scrolling to one-finger scrolling/side-scrolling. This computer appears to have Synaptics TouchPad V8.1. I do not see a box/option for one-finger scrolling. Is it possible to do one-finger scrolling on this computer?
Thank you,
Reina
