HI!
I've been told several weeks ago on this forum (here) that I can't use anything but wireless card in the wireless card mini PCIe slot. My curiousity led me to somewhat different conclusions. I bought mini PCIe to USB adapter and it succesfully run after installing in mentioned above slot. But it also appears that there is another PCIe slot on the moterboard. Unfortunately it's not working or I have no idea how to make it work. Maybe one of you guys could help me a bit?
There you are a few photos regarding the subject:
1 - Mini PCIe slot where wireless card was originally inserted
2 - Other mini PCIe slot
3 - mini PCI to USB adapter inserted in the first slot - works like a charm!
4 - The same adapter inserted in the other slot - not working at all 😞
BTW - I tested the adapter when everything was assembled properly 😉

The other slot is for an mSATA mSSD hard drive module and frankly I would have thought that one was a general purpose mini pcie slot but it could also be an mSATA slot. mSSDs can work through either kind of bus. So the only explanation is that is it not a pcie slot at all. I am surpised obviously that the mini-pcie to usb adapter works in the wireless slot as the official word here has always been that such slots are only for wireless. We have had people over the years try all kinds of things in them like mSSD drives and they never work. Not sure why you need another usb port on the laptop and obviously the placement of the wifi slot makes the usb card not very useful.
