I am locked out of my ancient laptop and need to get it working for my daughter ASAP. I do not have the admin password and cant log in as guest either. I can not download a password unlocker because my system is not compatable and I have no disk. I am willing to restore it to new and loose everything. I tried using cmd f8 but no start menu/search bar came up to type a cmd in. I wonder if someone emails me the pw unlock file if I can save it directly to my usb flash?

Try tapping F11 as you power up to get the recovery partition. You should be able to restore it to factory settings that way with any luck. We are not going to be able to provide you with a password unlocker but I can say there are several out there, mostly bootable Linux programs that can wipe out a Windows password. If it is a BIOS or power on password not so much.

You can take use of a boot media to reset your forgotten password: Hiren's BootCD, Ophcrack, Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, or Ubuntu Live disk.

The disk needs to be downloaded using another PC you have access.

If you're going to erase the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows, make sure you backup your personal files and licnese keys for softwares installed on the hard drive.
