I want you to know that i absolutely hate HP from the bottom of my heart and up.

I've experienced so much crap with you and had so many issues with you that it's almost unbelievable.

I'm not allowed to rant or talk in a bad way about HP so i'm simply going to say:

You're the worst company, with the worst support, i've ever experienced.

I now know that i'm NEVER ever going back to an HP PC.

Farewell.

Hi,

I randomly stumbled upon this post and I may be able to help. I had the same problem last week, the Secure Boot being greyed out in BIOS. The solution that worked for me was to restore the factory keys to default (or something similar). This is done on the same menu where you can enable/disable Secure Boot. As soon as I clicked on that, Secure Boot was clickable and I could enable it. Hope that helps.

Good luck with your problems... I'm still working on mine... -_-

I'm sorry to hear that you have had such a bad experience. Is this in regards to warranty service or what?

I've had several problems while updating with the HP support center program. (Five times. It gave me problems with my computer five times.)

I've managed to solve most of them but it's kind of annoying having to fix everything that the update ruined.

This time, it made Windows 8.1 display an error message in the bottom right corner.

It says: "SecureBoot is not configured correctly".

I've researched a bit and it seems that it's a common problem for Windows 8.1 users.

Microsoft released a hotfix for the problem, which i used, but it only removed the watermark and didn't enable SecureBoot.

I want SecureBoot enabled, so i researched a bit more and found out that you could enable it manually via the BIOS.

I went into the BIOS, into "BIOS Options" or "BIOS Settings", whatever it's called.

I found out that the option for enabling and disabling the Secure Boot was all grey. I couldn't even "mark" it, if you know what i mean.

I haven't found out a solution to this problem yet and that's really frustrating.

I really want this solved but no one seems to have a solution.

Also, i've contacted support several times only to find out that they don't "know" about this problem.  I mean, they're supposed to be HP experts right? So why can't they answer my question?

It's really a shame that this happens. I REALLY looked forward to using HP's Envy 17 PC but they have done nothing else than causing me a lot of trouble.  😞

Such... a.... simple... solution.

Yet no so-called "HP Expert" could provide me with that answer.

Thank you, my friend.

And good luck with your problems.
