Hi @Tdoss3,

Good Day! Welcome to the HP forums.:) I understand that you require assistance booting up your computer and to reinstall windows 8 on the machine. It will be a genuine pleasure to assist you with this. 🙂

Superb diagnosis and troubleshooting. Great analysis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂  You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information about this.

  • Please provide the complete model# of the computer.
  • Have you run complete hardware diagnostics on it and did they pass?
  • Do you get any error messages when you fire up the computer?

For starters please do a hard reset on the computer. Link for hard reset: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768

Then run complete system diagnostics on the notebook to ensure that there are no critical hardware hiccups.

It takes about 2 hours to run. Link to run system diagnostics: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259

If all diagnostics pass, then you will need recovery media to restore the computer to factory settings. Please contact HP phone support in this regard.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

Once you get the recovery media visit this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03489643

to perform a complete system recovery and follow the most appropriate option that best describes the issue that you have with the computer.

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you. 🙂
