I left my laptop (HP TouchSmart tx2) in the car overnight and it froze, literally. It won't turn on (or even try to). It has been indoors, in my office, for a little over an hour now. I am going to let it sit longer, to reach room temperature. But if it still won't turn on, what do I do? Please don't tell me I killed it. I love this laptop. :'(

Hi:

I would remove the battery if it isn't too late, and let the PC reach room temp.

I think condensation has formed throughout the notebook due to the sudden temp change of bringing in the notebook from the extreme cold, to the warm.

With the battery in, that could have been enough condensation to short everything out.

If it doesn't start in a few hours, well...

You will need to keep the laptop in a place where it can reach room temperature. I do not know how long it will take. Be patient and give it at least eight hours.I saw the interesting reaction of electronics to extreme cold while I was in Antarctica flying in helicopters.

Thank you only took a few hours and it started. 🙂

I took the battery out and left it alone for a few more hours and it started!  I can't see any immediate problems, so here's to hoping I'm in the clear. Thank you! :womanvery-happy:

You're very welcome.

I am very happy that your notebook works.

I'm thinking it should be fine.
