I encountered a problem waking my laptop (Pavilion dv7-1270us) this morning. At first it would not wake up and had to do a hard reboot. Now I have two flashing lights on the keyboard -the caps lock light and the one over the end/pg up keys over the number pad. I have run several diagnostics and cannot find an answer as to what this is.

Hi,
First, try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for a full minute. Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and see if the notebook will start.
If it still doesn't start, see if you can match the sequence of Led 'blinks' to those shown in the table below.
Regards,
DP-K

I just finished running the Windows 7 version of HP Advisor and it did quite a lot of download/install work (I had upgraded the ram from 4g to 8g and from Vista 64 to Win 7/64 nearly three weeks ago). In any event, it would seem the flashing (only about 1 blink per second) has stopped. I'm printing out your response in the event it starts up again.
Thank you!

This unit gets some pretty hard use - I'm thinking I might start shopping for a replacement for it and shift it over and use it to replace the even older unit that runs my phone and security systems. Fortunately I run two external drives and do regular file back ups. (!)
