I am uploading photos from my iphone and camera and I want them to be organized by take taken. When I upload them they go into one folder that I have to name within the pictures folder.  With previous computers with Windows I was able each photo went into date order automatically.  There was no naming of files, it just automatically put them in date order. If I wanted to search photos from April 8, 2013 I easily could.  Now when I sort them by date order they are all lumped together with no dates attached to any photo.  When I upload another batch of photos they will go into a new folder.  I want to know how to upload the photos so they will be labled and automatically go into date order.  I can't imagine that this option is gone but I can't find it anywhere.  Please help!  Thank you.

JustWorkPlease,

Welcome to the HP Forum!

I do not know whether the manner of import has anything to do with this -- I am thinking about standard folder behavior and how it provides viewing options.  If the photos still have the "date taken" data embedded within them, then the following may work to sort the photos as you like.

NOTE:  wording may vary slightly for your operating system version.

  • Open a Windows Explorer / File Explorer window
  • Navigate to the folder in which you have stored the photos.
  • Switch the view to "Details"
  • Right along in the Ribbon that shows "Name" / "Date" / "Size" > Right Click (Example: Right-Click the Size header) >>
  • A little box (maybe) named "Size All Columns to Fit" should pop up
  • Down at the bottom of that box > Click the word "More"
  • In the "Choose Details" menu, scroll down the list > add a Check mark to "Date Taken"
  • Click OK to save and exit

  • When the column shows up in your main window, lightly click on the Date Taken box to sort by "date taken"

It is a nice way to say “Thank You” for the help.

Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.
