Just reread this ... I am not at all sure I understand this question.

Remove Arrow Box from ShortCuts:

Windows 7 - Shortcut Arrow - Change, Remove, or Restore

Remove White Box from Desktop...

• Can this be the Background that has been changed to be a white color??  If so, then simply changing the background color should fix the issue.

• Might the white box be a hung (browser) process?  That is, a hung program box?  Reboot the system.

•  Is Snip running?  Snip turns everything a whitish opaque color?  Kill snip.

Prior to making any program changes to your computer, make sure you have a Restore Point.

Make sure Restore Protection is turned on for the C:\ drive

AND

Control Panel > icon view > System > System Protection > Create a Restore Point

Excellent - and the smartest move!

I wish I could have seen this white box - I don't want it on my notebook, of course, but I am curious about such a thing.

It had to do with the weather channel logo or icon on my desktop. i was having a problem deleting it or just removing it from my desktop but suddenly I was left with a white huge icon which covered most of my desktop and it didn't even have a minimizing or closing box on it's upper righthand corner. Anyway the weather channel logo still appears when I sign on, but I'm able to remove it now. Thanks for your interest.

Interesting... Thanks for posting back. 

I have had a couple of "gadgets" go sideways on me (I don't use these anynore) and I've seen a couple of other weird side affects from some older software.  This was something I'd not heard of.  It may help someone else to know what happened, so it's good to have it documented even though it freaked you out for a bit.  Smiling.

Your welcomed. I'm still learning how to use my notebook. I know there's a certain computer language which those are good with PC's use to express themselves when they send messages back and forth to each other. Hopefully someday I'll learn or just get better at it as I go on, but for the moment I'll just continue using the only language I know how to express myself. I'm sure there are short cuts. The only one I know is instead of saying 'for you'  I can say '4 U' instead which is shorter and takes up less space. I guess I like to express myself in a way which most everyone can understand me.

I too have been having this problem, I don't know how to solve it and am not sure when it got started or what situation arises that it will pop up.

Any ideas?
