solved the problem, thank you for all the helpful ideas here.  I got the switchable graphics finally working.  In the HP Probook 4730s Windows 7 Professional it is in the AMD catylyst controller.

I right clicked on desktop selected Graphic Properties.
Selected Preferences at top right corner and checked Advanced View.
Selected Power option on side tab.
Drop down tab "Switchable Graphics Method".

Click on Select the graphics processor manually. Click Apply.

finally fixed.

Hi dkmr1,

To be able to find more product specific information, I would need the full model number of your notebook. I have included the 'Guide to finding my product number'.

Here is also and 'Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs'.

Thank you.

Hi Lisa,

My notebook product no is E3B59PA#ACJ.Also i checked whether i have fixed or dynamic graphics. In the device manager,it shows under display adapters-
1.Intel HD Graphics 4000
2.Radeon (TM) HD 8670M.

That means my laptop supports switcheable graphics.

@Kumar2178: For checking whether you've Fixed or Dynamic Graphics, go to BIOS settings and check for option about Video.

My laptop doesn't have Video Settings in BIOS. Intel HD 3000+AMD Radeon 6470M HD
